Coaching vs Therapy

What’s the difference?

Coaching and therapy serve different but complementary roles.

Therapy often focuses on understanding the past, processing emotions, and addressing psychological patterns or trauma. It plays an essential role in healing, reflection, and emotional support.

Coaching, by contrast, is forward focused. It centers on the present and future, helping people clarify goals, make intentional choices, and take consistent action toward the life they want to build. A coaches role is not to diagnose or treat mental health conditions, but to support growth, accountability, and behavior change in everyday life.

Coaching is especially effective for people who feel ready to move forward and benefit from structure, clarity, and support in following through, including teens and young adults who are building foundational habits and learning how to navigate increasing independence with confidence and purpose.
